About Annbjorg Lien

Annbjorg Lien is a Hardanger Fiddle , as well as standard fiddle player who happens to also be Norwegian.  In my effort to find all things Norwegian that I can positively embrace as my own.  I search for Norwegian music.  Annbjorg Lien is one of those musicians that is anchored in traditional Norwegian music, she is also very skilled and creatively diverse!

On this page, I am highlighting music she has created that is both traditional & contemporary.

Music Forum

I created a Forums website, which is separate from this website to have a place to collect content, ideas and thoughts.  A place to organize these things separate from all other social media sites.  A place of my own where I can claim my successes and qualities, as well as bear witness to the terrible, terrible things I've experienced and learned.

Annbjørg Lien & Roger Tallroth live at Celtic Colours International Festival 2015

Pilvi & Esko's Brudvals (Wedding Waltz) performed by Annbjørg Lien and Roger Tallroth at the Membertou Trade & Convention Centre on October 12, 2015 during Celtic Colours International Festival.

Traditional tune from Sunnmøre, Norway, after the folk musician and composer Karl Eidem ("Blinde-Karl").

Here's what Annbjørg Lien is saying in the beginning: "What my eyes didn't see, I got through the tones. Karl Eidem said this, a fabulous fiddler and composer from Sunnmøre.

Bukkene Bruse are: Arve Moen Bergset (vocal, hardingfele / Hardanger fiddle, fiddle/violin), Annbjørg Lien (hardingfele / Hardanger fiddle, nyckelharpa), Steinar Ofsdal (flutes), and Bjørn Ole Rasch (keyboards).

Tjønneblomen means Water Lily in Norwegian.  This is a traditional song played on the Hardanger Fiddle and organ.

Album -Felefeber

Norwegian Fiddle Fantasia (released 1994 by the Norwegian Grappa label - GRCD 4081) is a studio album by Annbjørg Lien.

The album was recorded in Gjerpen Church near Skien, a stone church from the 12th century. Only the sounds of the fiddle, guitar and church organ were recorded.
