It started in 2019, that's why it's called the Corona Virus, or COVID-19 Pandemic. It started in China, where the people in authority, responsibility, and leadership in China failed to prepare and address the problem. This failure lead to the spread of this lethal virus around the world. The failure here in the United State started with President Trump 2 years ago, by cutting funding to agencies that addressed
I was staying at Simpson Shelter at the time when it began to be a serious issue here in the state of Minnesota. That was the month of February. March 17th was a very quiet St Patrick's Day because the governor ordered a "Shelter in Place" for the state of Minnesota. That day at Simpson Shelter was deeply, deeply miserable! And, it wasn't even 10am yet. So, I left and went down to Minnehaha Falls.
I believe it was March 18th when 150 people, 60 year of age and older were approved to transfer from each of the Minneapolis Shelters to the Holiday Inn, Bloomington, MN. This was to protect those most vulnerable, which were those 60 years old and over. That same day, March 18th, I moved over to the Holiday Inn Bloomington, and got settled in room 213.
I have created a Forums website to help log, collect and articulate my thoughts and memories. As well as add content that matters, and open things up to discussion and dialogue. This specific Forum for the "History of (my) Residence" is to help speak to my experiences at each one of these residences. There is NOTHING shameful, wrong or guilty regarding anywhere I have lived. The actual success speaks for itself!
The photo on the right is a professional photo of the room I'm staying in. Of course it looks far too perfect. It is void of all guest possessions. Otherwise, this is what my room contains, and looks.
This represents a transition from famine to feast because of a global crisis. From pure sickness of addiction, complete lack of boundaries, and a deeply disgusting and dirty environment at Simpson shelter, to the opposite.
In this circumstance, it is loneliness and isolation that becomes more of an issue than in others.
Being in the other shelters, near downtown, we all know where to find other resources. And, many if not most all of those main services and resources are within walking distance. Bloomington is very much out of town.
